Graduation from Northeastern University in Boston, MA, which included an operations internship at Whaleco Oil, set the stage for a distinguished career built on Leo’s work ethic, passion for exceptional performance and loyalty to those around him. At each stop in his career, which included 24 years with Petro (now Star Gas Partners) and HOP Energy, Leo excelled as a leader who, innately, has led his teams by example. During his tenure, Leo has enhanced back office processes and developed customer tracking and product movement strategies all designed to improve the customer experience here at AFS. A true petroleum industry advocate, he works tirelessly to address the current challenges facing the petroleum supply chain, saying, “Fuels today are much different than fuels 20 or even 10 years ago and those making energy policy don’t see our fuels as changing or improving—and that’s a detriment to this industry. At AFS, we’re fuel quality advocates more than anything else. The industry should provide customers with the best fuel possible. Otherwise, we’re all going to electric heat.”

When not overseeing every aspect of our business, Leo and his wife Mary, who have three daughters, Amanda, Cassandra, Jessica, and Bennie, man’s best friend, enjoy beach time on the North Shore of MA.

After graduating from Marion Court College, in Beverly, MA, Paul started his own business, Stoney’s Masonry, utilizing his degree in business administration and the masonry skills passed down from his Grandfather. That experience, success and hands-on experiences proved invaluable as he became the sole employee at AFS working with his dad as the company began its expansion across New England. Paul Jr. grew up around the family business started by his dad a quarter-century ago. “Some of my earliest memories were visits to New England terminals discussing premium fuels value proposition and distribution.” Getting involved in the family business “just made sense,” Paul says. “I decided to run with it and never looked back. I see my role as a mentor to many of the staff we’ve brought on board over the past ten years and supporting these customer-facing employees and their customers.”

Paul Sr. was the same age Paul Jr. is today when he started AFS 25 years ago. “Our company brand, built on my dad’s hard work means a lot to me and our customers,” Paul Jr. says. “I want to build on our market presence today, with our expanding team, delivering the same level of customer service and quality products our customers have come to enjoy. “Ultimately I am trying to enhance the delivery of premium fuels with the introduction of new technologies as they come along. “Exciting times here at AFS!”

Paul lives with his wife, Christine, and his three children, Gianna, Louis, Siena, and their dog Macy in Tewksbury, MA.

A graduate of Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA with a BA degree in Psychology, Mark, enjoys the time he and his team invest in the AFS “Optimum Discovery” process building relationships while identifying opportunities and challenges facing his customers and prospects. AFS chemistries do their job. “It’s amazing,” Mark says. “AFS is continually testing new products or refining current ones so we can treat today’s—not yesterday’s—fuels.” Rarely does Mark stray from his adopted hobby of physical fitness. The programs ensure he’s both physically and mentally at his very best day in and day out. Mark’s personal fundraising focus is OESP’s “Oilheat Cares” program supporting technicians and their families in need.

Over weekends and holidays, Mark looks forward to his time at home with his wife Niki, and their dog BooBoo.

The Northeast Territory for Advanced Fuel Solutions comes with its geographical challenges but certainly not a barrier to Barry’s enthusiasm and diligence in reaching his customers and prospects on a daily basis. Helping random strangers in need, never accepting payment for his time—Tim Porter, PA/NY regional sales manager for Advanced Fuel Solutions, has turned into his dad. “As a kid, it used to tick me off,” Tim says. “But I’ve literally morphed into my dad. It’s a sense of doing the right thing.” “I came here to bring 40 years of relationships to AFS,” Tim says. “I have no plans to retire any time soon. As long as I’m having fun doing what I love to do, I’ll be here introducing the downstream to the countless fuel quality programs that have vaulted AFS to the top of the fuel treatment supply chain.”

Tim, a family man, married his wife Lorraine for 35 years, who together built a log home on 30 mountainside acres in Pennsylvania years ago. “I live every day in paradise with my wife Lorraine,” he says. Tim’s retreat allows him to enjoy downtime riding his Indian motorcycle, boating, and traveling with Lorraine on the inland waterways.

A graduate of SNHU with a degree in business administration, Kyle joined AFS after developing experience as an HVAC technician and project manager. That experience provided immeasurable support of our sales team ensuring problem-free customer experiences, from point of order to delivery. During his tenure here at AFS, Kyle has developed strong vendor relationships as AFS continues to expand fuel quality tools in support of our customers. .. “My contributions to our business continue to grow and, at some point, the tipping point will be delivering AFS customers the absolute most effective solutions and service available anywhere in the energy marketplace we serve.

Kyle resides in Pembroke, NH with his wife Haley and their dog “Bleu”. Much of Kyle’s time beyond the walls of AFS is devoted to the ongoing remodeling of his new home and time at the family lake house.

Christine arrived at AFS after serving the HHO industry, dedicating 30 years of her career to New England Fuel Institute (NEFI), and eventually becoming chief operating officer there. In mid-2017, after organizational changes and a move further from her home, Christine was coaxed to AFS where her expansive list of industry contacts made her a perfect fit for her new role. Acting as the liaison to our CPA firm, Christine’s daily responsibilities include invoicing, accounts payable and receivable, collections, and customer service. A member of Women in Energy, Christine thoroughly enjoys helping people, raising money for those in need, and lending a hand to various charities such as the New England Hemophilia Association.

Christine and her husband Bill, married for 25 years, live in Billerica, MA. When not at the office or enjoying a night on the town with Bill, she takes refuge at her summer home in Plymouth, MA.
